Comet Levy, also known as 1990c or C/1990 K1 was a widely visible object, probably the most spectacular since Comet Halley in 1986. It was discovered by David Levy of Tucson, Arizona, on 1990, not photographically but visually.
The closest approach to the Earth occurred in August 1990 at a distance of 0.43 Astronomical Units, more or less when this picture was taken.
