It is a really incredible image. Many of us thought it was not possible to get such details in Mercury surface from an Earth-based telescope. Nevertheless, John Boudreau from Saugus, Massachusetts has been able to get some features that match those observed from Messenger spacecraft. He used an infrared filter on a Celestron C11 to get the most accuracy image possible from this difficult planet.
