is that the StarMax127? i absolutely love that mak scope from Orion. i have the 102 model and i can tell you is by far the faroivte. its size and optical capabilities fit one's needs for observing quality and portability. and those full aperture glass solar filters you have give a very nice image of our yellow day star.? very nice clip

I much prefer my birnaulcos to a cheap telescope. But you must get a decent pair. Expect to pay about 100 dollars plus. You can get birnaulcos at Celestron or Orion online. I have seen the Galilean moon of Jupiter, the Pleiades, Hyades, Andromeda Galaxy, M44, the double cluster in Perseus, Orion Nebula, and some double stars. One thing I can' t see are the rings of Saturn. Try 7 x 50 or 10 x 50. Anything bigger will require a tripod to keep them steady.
