B÷otes is a spring constellation also known as the Herdsman. Next to Bo÷tes we find Corona Borealis, the northern crown.

This image has been taken with a non-tracking Canon EOS 450d (Rebel XTi) from an urban area. The camera took several sequential subframes that have been aligned and stacked computationally.

Light pollution is one of the afrofnts of city life that I am having difficulty acclimating to. Jupiter rising in the east this evening and the memory of mule deer and a kestrel on the bike path give me hope that I will eventually feel at ease in this new place. The pale band of Navajo sandstone in the Utah desert releases its heat at night. I love to feel its warmth on my back while I watch the Milky Way circle overhead and think about the Ancient Ones and the age of ancient light from distant stars.
